Some common types of headaches
Headache is perhaps one of the most common problems. All of us have experienced a headache at some or the other point in time in our lives. While some of us suffer from a mild headache that can be treated with simple healthy tips, there are others who deal with severe and extreme pain. It is for this reason that headaches have been classified into different categories. Some of the most common and the slightly less risky kinds of headaches are listed below.Tension headaches are perhaps the most common type of headache. As the name suggests, this kind of headache occurs due to tensing of muscles. When muscles at the back of neck, spine, and at the base of the head contract, it results in a tension headache. This obviously leads to pain.If the muscles on one side of the head are contraction, you are bound to experience headache on one side of the head. Tension headaches are also accompanied with pain in the temples, forehead, or eyes. The sensation of heightened muscular tension is prevalent in tension headaches. Tension headaches can be treated by relaxing the muscles with the help on numerous relaxation techniques. Another common type of headache is a sinus headache. These headaches primarily stem from the back of the throat. Tension in the back of the throat then extends to the lining of the throat and consecutively the nasal cavity. This excessive tension then leads to sinus drainage and subsequently causes a sinus attack or a sinus headache. To treat sinus headaches, throat tension must be alleviated.
Migraine headaches are yet another very common type of headache. This type of headache is usually caused due to contraction of blood vessels. An unhealthy lifestyle hampers the flow of blood via the cells and thus leads to a headache. People suffering from migraine headache usually experience hallucinations or aura. This aura is primarily referred to as a ray of zig zag light. Since these headaches are relatively less serious, they can be treated with self help. Relaxation techniques coupled with a healthy lifestyle can help treat most of these headaches.
